Registrations invited for Logistics Precinct tender

The Newcastle Logistics Precinct will expand portside storage for vital equipment – including wind turbines and transformers – needed to build renewable energy projects across the state.

ENERGYCO is inviting companies to register their interest for a tender to design and build an open-air storage area at the Newcastle Logistics Precinct.

The precinct, located next to the Port of Newcastle, will expand portside storage for equipment needed to build renewable energy projects across the state.

It will store oversize, overmass renewable energy generation equipment including wind turbines and transformers.

EnergyCo Executive Director Project Interface and Strategic Coordination, Azaria Dobson said, “The Newcastle Logistics Precinct is the gateway to our energy transformation.

“Our early market engagement has informed how we package delivery of the Newcastle Logistics Precinct and we are expecting strong interest.

“We are always looking for ways to maximise regional benefits as we transform the energy system.”

According to EnergyCo, the project will create jobs and provide opportunities for local businesses to win work.

The online invitation to register for the tender will close on 17 April 2026, with successful registrants meeting capability and experience requirements to be invited to participate in the Expression of Interest (EOI) stage in May 2026.

EnergyCo will host an industry briefing in August 2026 to connect smaller regional construction businesses with the shortlisted tenderers, creating opportunities for local businesses to connect, collaborate and explore ways to get involved.

The precinct is subject to planning and environmental approvals and will include an Environmental Impact Statement and a public exhibition period later this year.

The procurement process will run through 2026 with the formal procurement stage, known as the Request for Tender, which involves shortlisted EOI applicants preparing detailed tenders to be assessed by EnergyCo, expected to begin in early 2027.
