Biggest turnout yet as Anyerin impresses at Sunday Sounds

ROBINSON Reserve at Anna Bay came alive for the third edition of Sunday Sounds on 26 April, organised by Port Stephens Council.

Rising rapidly in popularity, Sunday’s event enjoyed the biggest turnout yet.

Local musician Anyerin Drury performed live from 3-5pm in front of several dozen onlookers.

Children, adults, seniors and plenty of pets showed up to enjoy two hours of quality time together.

Parkgoers relaxed on the grass and enjoyed picnics while listening to renditions of classic songs, all in a scenic location a stone’s throw from the beach.

While performing, Anyerin encouraged visitors to reflect on the value of spending time together as a community and on the beauty of the local area, especially as Robinson Reserve is situated on Worimi land.

“We love this amazing community here at Port Stephens,” said Anyerin.

“This is a pretty special place. We’re right next to a very important cultural heritage site.”

Food and drinks were available to purchase from a fundraiser BBQ by Port Stephens Marine Rescue, but some visitors also brought their own from home to share with friends.

Sunday Sounds is run on the last Sunday of the month from February to May; the next one is therefore expected to be the last, and judging by the trends it may just be the biggest one yet.

The musical series has been funded through revenue from parking meters in the area.
