Tomaree Public School netballers chase NSW PSSA honours

TOMAREE Public School senior netballers are an enterprising young team on a mission.

Competing in the prestigious NSW Primary Schools Sports Association (PSSA) Hunter Netball Knockout competition, this talented outfit have zoomed into the finals phase on the back of dominant victories.

Under the coaching of Emma Zimmermann, one of the school’s assistant principals, the Tomaree schoolgirls have produced skill, sportsmanship and a steely team spirit on court to advance to the final eight.

Following a string of emphatic early round triumphs, the Tomaree side will host Pacific Palms Public School from Boomerang Beach in a quarter-final this Thursday at the Tomaree Sports Complex netball courts at Salamander Bay.

School Principal Allyson Corrigan told News Of The Area that she continues to feel “immense pride” in the team’s outstanding netball achievements.

“They are a formidable group of young girls, coming together to showcase their combined sporting talents and [they] have the strength and determination to make their team a success,” she said.

“It has been wonderful to see the girls work together, having each other’s back on and off the court and their sportsmanship and teamwork continue to shine.”

“They genuinely care about each other and value what strengths each of them brings to the team.

“As a school community, we wish them all the best in their round five quarter-final against Pacific Palms as they represent Tomaree Public School with pride.”

The team is laced with Nelson Bay junior netball representatives and features rising prospects Zahli, Harlow, Mia, Ava, Isabelle, Scarlett, Zaynaeb, Amarli, Willow, Emily and 10-year-old Eden.

In a fine exhibition of top class netball, the girls chalked up resounding wins over Shoal Bay Public School (50-1), Anna Bay Public School (41-4), Medowie Public School (35-18) and Clarence Town Public School (28-11), in the early rounds to advance to the finals series.
