DEAR News Of The Area,
BORN at the start of the war and throughout the war, life was pretty tough.
So like most countries, luxuries were few and far between.
As children our needs were simple.
Between the bombs and rationing we still managed to have fun.
As you may have guessed we are not young but we are definitely not spoil sports.
We love to see children and adults having fun but we would have to admit our ideas of fun are sadly a lot less physical than once was.
We came to Medowie almost nine years ago.
It was really peaceful at that time.
We love to walk, which we try to do regularly.
We usually now walk from Bella Roma heading towards the Bower.
Sadly now it is not so peaceful.
A recent short walk (approximately a half hour) was spoiled by 17 or 18 e-bikes/motorised scooters.
We were constantly looking over our shoulders.
The speed on some were frightening – no bells or horns.
Just us being quick enough to get out of the way to avoid serious injury, which can become catastrophic when you are older.
So, what is the answer?
Parents, please warn your children of possible injuries they may cause to older people by being stupid or even damaging themselves.
Who pays the legal cost if your son/daughter destroys someone’s life.
Regards,
Peter GODSALL,
Medowie.
