SHOAL Bay has been recognised as the People’s Choice Winner in the Small Tourism Town category at the 2026 NSW Top Tourism Town Awards.
Presented by the NSW Tourism Association, the People’s Choice Award is determined by public vote, recognising destinations that create memorable visitor experiences and meaningful connections with both visitors and locals.
Destination Port Stephens CEO Jo Thomas said the award was an acknowledgement of Shoal Bay’s unique appeal and the collaborative efforts of local businesses, tourism operators and the wider community.
“This recognition is incredibly special because it has been voted by the public,” Ms Thomas said.
“It reflects the passion and pride our local businesses and community have in showcasing Shoal Bay as one of NSW’s most loved coastal destinations.
“Shoal Bay continues to captivate visitors with its natural beauty, relaxed coastal lifestyle, exceptional dining experiences, and world-class nature-based attractions.
“This award reinforces the strength of our destination and the experiences we collectively deliver.”
Port Stephens Mayor Leah Anderson said the recognition highlighted the importance of tourism to the local economy and community.
“We are incredibly proud to see Shoal Bay recognised at a state level,” Ms Anderson said.
“This award is a testament to the dedication of our tourism operators, hospitality businesses and community
members who make visitors feel so welcome.”
