MORE than 5000 visitors viewed the Tomaree Museum Association’s (TMA) expanded exhibitions during the past year, and 100 new members joined the historical group.
Other highlights from the exhibition program included June’s month-long Valerie Taylor exhibition at the Tomaree Headland Precinct, the annual ANZAC exhibition at the Port Stephens Visitor Information Centre, and the permanent Inner Lighthouse display.
The association is now gearing up for its Shipwrecks exhibition, which will be held at the Tomaree Headland Precinct from 26 September to 23 October. TMA members will soon be invited to volunteer at this event.
TMA president Doug Cross told members who attended the group’s annual general meeting on Friday, 7 August, that it had been a good year for the association.
Mr Cross also announced that one of TMA’s grant applications had been successful, and the association would receive funds to purchase a specialised computer to help integrate artificial intelligence into the management of its archives and artefact collections.
The association is also hoping to secure a permanent home in the near future.
