SALAMANDER Bay’s  Luke Noble continues to make an extraordinary impact in the Port Stephens sporting community.

The 44-year-old father of two can regularly be spotted at the Tomaree Sporting Complex, helping to maintain the Nelson Bay Netball Association (NBNA) courts.

You’ll also find him on match days setting up and running the weekly barbecue or scoring matches on the sidelines.

At the recent NBNA presentation night at Soldiers Point Bowling Club, Noble was recognised for his dedication, passion, energy and generosity with the Volunteer of the Year Award.

It was a deserved honour for the unsung member of the Noble netball family.

With two goal-shooting daughters in 12-year-old Emily and 17-year-old Abigail, and a successful team coach/manager wife, Mel, there is no better place to support his girls than the local netball courts in Salamander Bay.

A promising shooter, Emily was part of the Nelson Bay 12-years representative squad that finished runners-up at this year’s Netball NSW State Junior Division Three titles at Camden, while Abigail has tasted premiership success in both the Nelson Bay and Newcastle competitions.

Abigail is also a National B badged umpire and juggles her playing commitments during a hectic winter and spring schedule.

The Noble family’s netball journey began in Narrabri before returning to Port Stephens and making valuable contributions to the NBNA for the past five seasons.

Luke told News Of The Area that he felt “a little embarrassed but honoured” to receive the award for his voluntary work.

“I simply enjoy the game of netball and play my part by helping to ensure the courts are safe for the girls and boys to play on,” he said.
