CORLETTE’S superfish Stefan Grant and star recruit Hanna Mounter stole the show with dominant performances at the Fashion Fish Nelson Bay Swim Club Carnival at Tomaree Aquatic Centre on 10-11 January.
In a masterclass display, the talented duo were the stand out swimmers of the annual two day meet – bagging an impressive haul of 16 medals between them to spearhead the Nelson Bay charge.
Mounter and Grant enjoyed a New Year gold rush as competitors overcame the heatwave conditions to post personal best times and encouraging results in elite company.
Fifteen year old Hanna collected six gold medals with victories in the Girls 15 years 100m and 200m freestyle; 50m butterfly; 100m and 200m backstroke plus 200m individual medley finals.
She also picked up silver medals in the 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke events.
The versatile Grant reigned supreme in his age group, winning five gold medals in the Boys 14 years 50m and 200m freestyle; 50m and 100m breaststroke and 200m individual medley finals and claiming silver in the 50m butterfly and bronze in both the 50m and 200m backstroke events.
Emerging swimmer Lachlan Parker won the Boys 15 years 50m and 100m sprint double and grabbed silver in the 50m and 100m butterfly finals while the promising Lara Budd snared gold in the Girls 15 years 50m breaststroke final to add to her silver medals in the 100m and 200m breaststroke.
Eight year old Claudia Gregory won the Girls eight years 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke finals as well as silver in the 50m breaststroke event while Keana Macklin, eight, won gold in the Girls eight years 50m breaststroke, silver in the 50m butterfly and backstroke and bronze in the 50m freestyle.
All rounder Bonnie Norton,16, won gold in the 15/O 100m and 200m breaststroke finals; silver in the 50m breaststroke and bronze in the 50m butterfly.
Talented Alexis Scott,14, claimed gold in the Girls 13-14 years 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly finals plus bronze in the 50m and 100m backstroke and 200m individual medley events.
Isabella Hol celebrated gold medal wins in the Girls 16 years 50m backstroke and 100m butterfly finals, silver in the 50m butterfly and bronze in the 100m backstroke and 200m individual medley while Rafe Grant captured gold in the Boys 13 years 100m butterfly and bronze in the 200m breaststroke finals.
Other Nelson Bay swimmers to shine include Angus Boyd, who clinched gold in the 12-year-old Boys 100m and 200m breaststroke and bronze in the 50m breaststroke; Thomas Colbert, silver in the 12-year-old Boys 50m breaststroke final and bronze in the 200m freestyle; Martha Cornally, bronze in the 11-year-old Girls 100m backstroke and Beau Gardiner, silver in the 13-14-year-old Boys 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke finals.
