A TRIP to last weekend’s Koori Knockout offered First Nations families more than football, with help to navigate household bills and government services also available at Raymond Terrace’s King Park.
Service NSW’s Mobile Service Centre and marquee gave attendees a place to ask about energy costs, transport expenses and government rebates.
With families coming from across NSW, the event provided an opportunity to speak to someone about their circumstances without making a separate trip to a service centre.
Whether the question was about a concession, an application, or simply where to start, advice was available.
The team was on hand to explain what support attendees might qualify for and assist with everyday paperwork, including driver licence and photo card transactions.
Working with Children Check applications and applications for birth, death and marriage certificates were also among the services on offer.
Service NSW Managing Director, Greg Wells said the Knockout brought thousands of Aboriginal families and communities together.
“Whether it’s support with energy bills, transport costs or other savings opportunities, our team was there to help people understand what support they may be eligible for and hear about what matters most to their community,” Mr Wells said.
For those who travelled to Raymond Terrace to play, support their team or catch up with family, the Department of Customer Service centre offered a chance to ask about the assistance available and whether it applied to them.
