Nelson Bay and Port Stephens netball associations launch 2025 season

ASPIRING netballers from the Port Stephens region returned to competitive action last weekend with an extra spring in their step.

Both Nelson Bay and Port Stephens netball associations launched the 2025 season campaigns with healthy numbers in all ranks.

Undeterred by a period of inclement weather, it was all systems go with pin point shooting, tenacious defence and midcourt skills the order of the day.

In a massive boost for netball in the region, the Port Stephens Netball Association (PSNA) have again secured sponsorship from Greater Bank.

The funding is set to subsidise registration fees to help more young netballers play the sport they love.

This year’s support will enable PSNA to participate in the season’s representative events as well as junior and state titles.

PSNA President Jodi Cassar PSM told News Of The Area that the association has its sights set on the upcoming representative carnivals.

“We are so grateful for Greater Bank’s support again this year, which will empower our representative teams to participate in carnivals across our region,” Ms Cassar said.

“Our teams will be participating in the… Junior and Senior State Championship titles again this year so Greater Bank’s sponsorship will provide the equipment and reduce the fees for our athletes at these events.

“With teams enrolled across each age group, we are looking forward to a fun representative season ahead.”

Greater Bank Raymond Terrace Branch Manager Khadine Campany said netball brings a touching display of community spirit to the cooler months.

“We are really proud to support the local netball associations that bring our community together for good,” Ms Campany said.

“I love seeing people come together to cheer along their family and friends from the sidelines – it’s great to see our sense of spirit come to life.”
