THE streets of Port Stephens came alive for the 2026 Sail Port Stephens Street Party, with locals and visitors taking to social media to describe the night as “electric”, “packed” and “exactly what the town needed.”
Held in the heart of Nelson Bay, the annual celebration once again proved why it’s become a standout event on the region’s calendar, blending live music, street food, market stalls, the quintessential Aussie aroma of the charcoal BBQ and a sea of people flowing through the CBD.
Among those sharing their experience was Leah Anderson, with furbaby sidekick Cr Honey, who posted that the atmosphere was “on another level this year”.
“So good to see the town buzzing and everyone out enjoying themselves.”
Many praised the food options, the family-friendly vibe and the strong turnout.
For local businesses, the impact was significant.
Several shop owners reported a surge in foot traffic, with some describing it as one of their busiest nights outside of peak holiday periods.
A spokesperson for Dumpling Mama’s Bar and Dining said the street party brought “a constant stream of people through the doors, with people ordering takeaways while others waited for tables to turn over.”
The event created a “real energy that flowed into every shop, not just the curbside stalls.”
Cafes, boutiques and hospitality venues all appeared to benefit, with many extending trading hours to meet demand.
While crowds stretched along the main strip and music filled the air, the overwhelming tone online remained positive, a reflection of a community proud to showcase what it has to offer.
