THE President’s Cup, the final intraclub croquet competition of each year, was held on Sunday 25 October 2026.
This level-play competition was open to all members, played as 13-point games with a time limit of 50 minutes.
Fourteen members entered and the qualifying round was played as three blocks, two of five players and one of four players, with the winners of each block and the best second-place finisher playing knock-out semi-finals and a final.
In Block A, Marty Quirke finished at the top, unbeaten with four wins, ahead of Faby Batho with three wins. In Block B, Greg Long was also unbeaten to win the block ahead of Col Bailey with three wins. In Block C, Bryce Patterson won all three games to finish ahead of Sherry Gordon with two wins.
The semi-finals and final were all close games which could have gone either way.
In the semi-finals, Bryce beat Greg 6-5 and Col beat 2025 winner Marty 7-6.
The final produced a great game with Bryce narrowly prevailing 7-6 to win the President’s Cup.
Bryce is in a rich vein of form, having recently been crowned the NSW Division 3 GC Champion.
