NELSON Bay’s Jake Langsford will represent the Philippines’ national touch football team at the upcoming 2026 Asia Pacific Opens Touch Cup in Mudgee.
The quicksilver winger/halfback has earned selection in the Philippines Mixed Open side for the prestigious international touch football tournament to be staged from Thursday 23 April to Sunday 26 April at the Glen Willow Regional Sports Complex.
Langsford will play in the middle position, a role that requires peak fitness, quick decision-making and the ability to control the tempo through the centre of the field.
It is a rare opportunity to represent both his heritage and the Port Stephens sporting community.
Langsford continues to stamp his mark across two football codes, representing the Nelson Bay Gropers in rugby while also excelling in touch football.
Playing on the wing for the Gropers, he is renowned for his raw speed, agility and sharp footwork, and often uses his evasiveness to beat defenders and create attacking opportunities out wide.
He will now pit his touch football skills against opponents from 15 countries across the Asia-Pacific region.
The country town of Mudgee expects to host 500 players and officials for the four-day international tournament, which will feature a host of talent in the Mens, Womens and Mixed categories.
