NSW Swifts help Medowie junior netballers hone their skills

MEDOWIE Netball Club juniors enjoyed a fun and beneficial skills clinic with NSW Swifts stars Paige Hadley and Sharni Lambden last week at their Ferodale Park headquarters.

In a huge boon for the club, midcourt ace and new mum Hadley and wing defence specialist Lambden were on hand to educate the region’s up-and-coming juniors on the finer points of netball with two well-attended sessions.

The Nailing the Basics session was aimed at the club’s seven- to 12-year-olds looking to sharpen their netball skills. The Advanced Skills session focused on Medowie’s emerging 12- to 16-year-old talent looking to dig deep with some hard and fast training.

Medowie Netball Club president Kerry Whitty told News Of The Area that the clinic proved a “rousing success”.

“To have two world-class netballers in Paige and Sharni come to Medowie and teach our juniors is a massive bonus,” Ms Whitty said.

“There was a great atmosphere and real buzz around the courts and all the girls completed the skills sessions with plenty of zest.”

The amazing Hadley, a World Cup-winner with the Australian Diamonds team, returned to action with the Swifts on Mothers Day – just 10 weeks after the birth of her first child.

It was a remarkable effort from the 33-year-old international, who welcomed her son Tully in late February and worked closely with the Swifts  medical team to give herself the best opportunity at staging a comeback.

The Swifts legend has won two Super Netball premierships (2019 and 2021) and has played in five Grand Finals and has served as vice-captain of the Diamonds, securing two Netball World Cups and Commonwealth Gold.

Lambden, a talented wing defender, joined the Swifts for the 2025 Super Netball season after playing for the Melbourne Vixens.
