RAYMOND Terrace Athletics Centre is bubbling with junior talent in their track and field ranks.
Twenty five of the club’s best young hopefuls demonstrated their athletic prowess at this year’s Port Hunter Zone Athletics Championships at Mallabula Sports Complex.
A feature was the record-breaking feats of top prospects Scarlett Lodge, Asher MacDonald, Audrey Russell and Ashlyn Wall and 20 Raymond Terrace juniors qualifying for the Regional Championships to be held in Maitland during February.
The up-and-coming Lodge won the 9yrs Girls 70m final in a record time of 11.26 seconds with MacDonald posting a new record for the 13yrs Girls 400m of 1:07.77.
Champion race walker Audrey Russell showed her class to win the 14yrs Girls 1500m racewalk in a blistering record time of 7 min 34.19 sec with the gifted Wall, 18, claiming gold and another record in the Under 20 Girls 400m sprint in 1:00.05 sec.
Raymond Terrace juniors to qualify for Region include:
Under 8s: Ainsley Foot (200m, 400m, 70m and 60m hurdles) and Scarlett Lodge (70m, 100m, 200m and 60m hurdles).
Under 9s: Georges Catteau (gold shot put and silver high jump), Kaitlyn Brydon (400m, 800m) and Kobi Gentle (70m).
Under 10s: Winter Robson (gold 100m, 200m, high jump and long jump), Amelia Pilgrim (bronze shot put) and Matilda Shawyer (gold 70m, silver 200m and shot put).
Under 11s: Sebastian Lawrence (bronze 400m and discus), Austin Lodge (bronze javelin and high jump), Jack Peach (gold high jump, bronze long jump) and Callum Langlois (silver javelin and triple jump).
Under 13s: Asher MacDonald (gold 400m, long jump, triple jump and bronze 200m) and Oscar Pilgrim (gold 1500m, 3000m and silver 800m).
Under 14s: Audrey Russell (gold 1500m racewalk), Clair Cousins (gold javelin, silver 800m, discus, bronze triple jump and Mila Clarke (silver javelin).
Under 16s: Sydnee Farrelly (gold 800m, 1500m and 3000m).
Under 17s: Bella Clarke (gold long jump, silver javelin).
Under 20s: Ashlyn Wall (gold 400m, 1500m) in Under 20s.
Raymond Terrace club’s three 4 x 100m relay teams collected medals with the Junior Girls comprising Lodge, Shawyer, 11-year-old Evie Gentle and 10-year-old sensation Robson, snaring gold in a time of 1:07.16 sec.
The Senior Girls relay quartet of MacDonald, Russell, Farrelly and Cousins grabbed silver with the Junior Boys combination of 9-year-olds Riley Dowse and Kobi Gentle, and 11-year-old duo Austin Lodge and Jack Peach claiming bronze.
