A GRANTS program that last year helped plant 123,000 trees, shrubs and groundcovers will return in 2026.
Grants of between $5,000 and $25,000 are available to support the native planting projects of Landcare groups, Bushcare, Coastcare and Dunecare groups, local governments, natural resource management organisations, not-for-profit organisations and First Nations organisations.
It is the second year the Healthy Cities Landcare Grants Program 2026 will be available. The program is again being delivered through a partnership between Bupa and Landcare Australia.
Last year’s program supported the planting of 123,166 native trees, shrubs and groundcovers across the country.
More than 6,200 people took part in environmental activities through 188 community events, helping restore wildlife habitat, improve urban biodiversity and create greener public spaces.
Landcare Australia CEO Dr Shane Norrish said the program continued to deliver meaningful outcomes for both communities and the environment.
“After another successful year delivering meaningful outcomes for communities across the country – including planting over 123,000 native trees, shrubs and groundcovers – we’re excited to build on that momentum in 2026,” said Dr Norrish.
“We’re proud to work alongside Bupa, whose ongoing commitment recognises the strong connection between healthy environments and healthy people, particularly in our urban communities.”
Bupa Asia Pacific Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer Roger Sharp said local projects often created benefits well beyond their immediate surroundings.
“While landcarers and community groups often operate at a local level, their impact can be far-reaching,” Mr Sharp said.
“We’re excited to continue the program in 2026, helping to create and improve accessible green spaces that encourage people of all ages to get active, connect socially, and enjoy the benefits of nature.”
Applications are open and close on Monday 13 July 2026 at 5pm AEST.
