NSW GOLF Croquet Bronze Brooch
The NSW Golf Croquet Bronze Brooch was hosted by Toronto Croquet Club at Lake Macquarie Croquet Centre, Glendale from Friday 4th to Sunday 6th September 2026. The Brooch tournaments provide competition across usual division boundaries – the Bronze Brooch is for players with handicaps 7 to 10, combining players from Division 2 (5-8) and Division 3 (9 and above).
17 players entered, including Faby Batho from Nelson Bay CC, and were seeded into 2 blocks of 9 and 8 players each. The top 4 from each block then played a knock-out final to determine the Bronze Brooch champion. Playing in Block A, Faby won 5 of 8 games to finish 4th in the block and qualify for the knock-out finals.
Faby beat Vicki Bennett (Belconnen CC) 7-5 before losing the semi-final 4-7 7-3 4-7 to Nerida Gill (Belconnen CC). Faby then lost the 3rd/4th play-off 5-7 to William Hope (Toronto CC) to finish 4th – an excellent result in a state championship.
The championship winner was Garry Thorpe (Belconnen CC).
