NSW GOLF Croquet Open Doubles
The NSW Golf Croquet Open Doubles Championship was hosted by Newcastle National Park Croquet Club from Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd August 2026. 16 doubles pairs entered and the qualifying round was played as 2 blocks of 8 pairs with the top 4 from each block progressing to the knock-out finals. The qualifying round was played as 13-point games with a 1-hour time limit; the knockout final games were played as best-of-three.
4 members from Nelson Bay Croquet Club entered: Rob Batho & Marty Quirke were seeded in Block A and Faby Batho & Sherry Gordon were seeded in Block 2. With some of the best players in NSW and ACT entered, the competition would be intense. Neither pair qualified for the final play-off and played in the consolation knock-out. Faby & Sherry progressed to the semi-final, finishing 4th and winning 5 games across the championship – an excellent outcome in this company.
In the championship final, Aniko Osvald & Robert Ey (Mosman/Canberra) beat Pauline Markwell & Chris Williamson (Royal Sydney Golf Club/Toronto) 7-3 7-5 to be declared state champions.
