PORT Stephens pickleball identities Debbie Black and Kim Fletcher are renowned for their on-court prowess on the northern NSW circuit.
The pair have achieved a wealth of success in both the singles and doubles formats on tour – collecting an assortment of medals and titles to earn legendary status.
Local hero Debbie remains one of the sport’s fiercest competitors while talented Kim, who recently moved to Tuncurry, has built an impressive record in her age division.
Now their respective mothers have upstaged the dynamic duo with medal-winning achievements in their own right.
Debbie’s mum Val Mulhearn and Kim’s mother Pam Wilson underlined their potential as a pairing with outstanding deeds at this year’s Barrington Coast Seniors 60s plus tournament hosted by the Halliday Point Pickleball Club.
Competing in the 75 years plus Womens Doubles (Any Skill), the evergreen Val and Pam picked up a silver medal before claiming gold and silver medals in the 80 years plus Mixed Doubles category for Any Skill the following day.
It was a tremendous achievement by the golden oldies, who both displayed the natural skill and composure of their accomplished daughters.
Port Stephens Pickleball competitors Louise Davis, Steve Laming and Joanne Laming, Cherie McDougall, Janine McKeefry and Steve Wilson also showed their wares at the recent PCYC Bateau Bay tournament.
Louise and Joanne earned a bronze medal in the 60 years plus Women’s Doubles (DUPR 3.49 and under) with the talented Davis later combining with Wilson to claim another bronze in the 60 years plus Mixed Doubles (DUPR 3.49 and under).
