Medowie FC acknowledge female members during Female Football Week events

MEDOWIE Football Club celebrated the valuable contributions of women and girls in football during an event-packed Female Football Week in the Port Stephens region.

Club officials acknowledged the efforts of their female members while creating more opportunities for participation and growth across all levels of the game.

The Bumblebees conducted a series of events throughout the week as they encouraged female participation in football.

Female Medowie FC players were decked out in purple socks, purple armbands and purple hair bows while MiniRoos mascots took part in All Age Women and Over 30s Women fixtures – with the girls walking out onto the field with their senior counterparts.

Officials also organised a friendly match between the Medowie Under 13 Girls and Under 15s teams that also featured a batch of 12 year old  junior  female players.

Club official Alice Lavender told News Of The Area that interviews were also conducted with various female players and shared on social media.

“This annual initiative is aimed at elevating women and girls and their contribution to football across all aspects of the game,” Alice stated.

“Female Football Week celebrates the growth in women’s football in partnership with the grassroots community and is a great opportunity for local clubs to attract new women and girls to the sport” she added.

Medowie FC comprises 28 senior female and 36 junior female players plus 100 Mini Roos female juniors that compete in the Newcastle Football inter district competitions.
